The Pennfield High School athletic department announced the recipients of the annual departmental awards for the senior class on Wednesday evening during the Senior Honors Night. These special awards for the Class of 2021 were the highlight of a very successful year of Pennfield Panther athletic achievements. The varsity football team won two MHSAA playoff games for the first time since 2013 and advanced to the district championship game in the fall season. The winter season saw the varsity girls’ basketball team capture their first district championship since 2006, the varsity competitive cheer team advanced to the MHSAA state final competition for the first time in school history, and the varsity boys’ basketball team captured a league title, the district and regional titles and advanced to the state championship game for the first time in school history. All of these accomplishments were led by the outstanding senior student-athletes in the Class of 2021. The individual winners of the annual athletic department awards were: Top Female Senior Academic Athlete was Isabelle Noffsinger. Top Male Senior Academic Athlete was Riley Clem. The Female Hall of Fame Award winner was Makayla Woolman. The Male Hall of Fame Award winner was Cody Hultink. The Outstanding Senior Female Athlete was Abigail Schwartz. The Outstanding Senior Male Athlete was Ryne Petersen. Congratulations to all of the department award winners and the entire class of 2021. They have left their mark at Pennfield High School and will be long revered by the students, staff and community at Pennfield. We wish them the very best in their future endeavors!
